With the tuning industry being transformed from a culture of street racing into an automotive art form that has captured enthusiasts’ imaginations and vision, we celebrated the ultra-customisers with a ‘Revving Red Carpet’. Petrolheads from across the UK entered their pride and joy to be judged by a celebrity and specialist panel.
Pembrokeshire based performance and tuning enthusiast, Matthew Merrick, won the Revving Red Carpet with his 2011 Mini R56 JCW. Modified with Airrex struts and an airlift v2 management system, suspension modifications, 17” custom BBS RS, four-pot Brembo brakes and a genuine GP2 diffuser carbon fibre fuel cap.
The Revving Red Carpet judges - the Director of the Automotive Lifestyle brand SlammedUK, Jordan Clarke, Coventry based car meet ‘Dub Club’ organiser Ian Cook and Liberty Walk Director, James Pearman analysed each of the top 100 to narrow down to the top 20 of 2020.
The finalists had a public vote across the Performance & Tuning Car show social media channels which allowed tuning and automotive fans the opportunity to decide their top five modified vehicles that will feature on the red carpet and ultimately help the judges to pick a winner. The top tuned car - Mathews' 2011 Mini R56 JCW had the opportunity to showcase the customised vehicle in the heart of the prestige show.
